A new aquisition just before my hols was...........oh I wish!!
Madonna's Confessions Tour DVD/CD and like all Madonna DVD's it is absolutely brill!
Uncut, uncensored, complete with parental advisory sticker - interesting one that don't you think? Does it actually apply when a son buys it for his dad and if it does apply did RAFMAN check with GRAMBO or do I have to check with GRAMBO?! - filmed in London. The one that was so controversial not only for it's content but the prices that were being charged. OK here's the mega fact. By the time the unmistakeable intro of Like A Virgin, track 3, sees her strut her stuff on a contraption similiar to a rodeo machine with a pole to dance on I was saying in a very loud voice for everyone to hear...."Well I would pay £200. pounds to see this!"
It's not just the performance which is her best ever live performance, I know I say that every time that she releases a live performance but that in itself says something for the woman, doesn't it? It's the immenseness of the whole thing. The best dancers, free runners and acrobats in the world, the best backing vocals and band. Huge screens showing visual graphics, most of them with major world messages. Poverty. Africa. Aids etc. She looks so fit herself and her vocals are stronger than ever.
21 superb tracks, one or two musical surprises, the best version of La Isla Bonita......ever! Hung up better than ever, Music Inferno and a Sorry remix to die for. My opinion not as visually offensive as I imagined it was and I guess you have to see it to see how you would react.
The bonus bits feature Madonna as the girl next door in rehersal, track suit, hangover and mistakes. Oh does that show her as human, surely not? Some pretty snazzy photos complete the visuals on the disc.
The bonus CD is 13 of the tracks from the live show a slightly different way of doing it but it works. Don't buy it if you don't like seeing Madonna perform and don't buy it for just the CD as a live CD and don't whatever you do play the CD first! All that being said however you will not be disappointed.
SO THANKS RAFMAN! IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!
