THE Royal and Ancient Club are hopeful that the Open championship will make a swift return to Hoylake after describing this year's event as "one of the best ever staged". The tournament returned to the Royal Liverpool course for the first time since 1967, and R&A chief executive Peter Dawson is certain it will not take another 39 years for it to come back. "We don't bind future committees, but we have seen absolutely nothing that would prevent us coming back, certainly before another 39 years have elapsed," Dawson said. "In our view it was a wonderful Open played on a course that was long overdue to host the Open. I think it will go down as one of the best we've ever staged."
