November
by Thomas Hood
by Thomas Hood
No sun--no moon!
No morn--no noon!
No dawn--no dusk--no proper time of day
No sky--no earthly view
No distance looking blue
No road--no street
No "t'other side the way"
No end to any Row
No indications where the Crescents go
No top to any steeple
No recognitions of familiar people
No courtesies for showing 'em
No knowing 'em!
No mail--no post
No news from any foreign coast
No park--no ring--no afternoon gentility
No company--no nobility
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds,
November!

That's kind of depressing..haha
Yeah, that is kinda depressing.
Yeah it is but also kinda true and only depressing if you let it!
Thanks jlee and wisdom, didn't mean to depress you!
No cheerfulness? Based on just that part, I'd have to agree. Liked the poem though, and had not heard it before. :-) Happy Thursday Evening. Did you watch Corrie yesterday?!! The Slater-Brannings tonight. See you there.
November, already. Scrolled slower through your 1000th post, saw everything now!:) Not a good start to my Nov., got the flu.
Autumn Corrie was brill, well for Corrie.....Evil David and that final smile....was absolutely right for the night it was.
The poem is really good my Grandma used to always quote it and get it wrong but didn't leave you in any doubt that she didn't like November!!
Oh Grace the flu how ghastly! Glad you found BBE best track on Who's Next?!
Both my lads really went for the Limp Biskit version but I have since persuaded them that the original is best!!!!
I disagree!
There is so much to love at this time of year, maybe an anonymouse will tell you about it sometime
Hi city, I think the poem is true but that's not to say you can't look forward to great things that happen.
